Our History

CS Osborne

Our Founder

Charles Samuel Osborne, raised in modesty under his missionary father in Newark. It's speculated that growing up in the disciplined household of a city missionary instilled in him a desire to carve out a more affluent path for himself. He began his business journey at twenty-one. Transitioning from groceries to more promising ventures, he founded C.S. Osborne & Co. in 1826, establishing a significant legacy in leatherworking tools. His 1842 marriage to Sarah Dodd, and the influence of her brother William, played a pivotal role in shaping his career, setting the stage for a lasting impact in the industry.
